Ghirelli St. Pio Collection ~ Made in Italy

THE COLLECTION: ST. PIO OF PIETRELCINA

The Shrine of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina relied on Ghirelli to achieve a challenging goal: the creation of the Rosaries of Saint Pio. The creative commitment giving life to this collection has been extraordinary, and the challenge was accepted with special love. Replicated in detail are the highest moments in the life of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina and the result is unmatched, transmitting through the rosaries the very spirituality of Saint Pio. Introduction of these rosaries was published in the official magazine of the Shrine, and it became an unprecedented selling event.

The crucifix in front of which Padre Pio received the stigmata on September 20th, 1918 has been reproduced by a renowned artist who has transformed it into the Crucifix for the rosary. Nothing has been overlooked: the details aim for perfection, such as the blood pouring from Christ’s wounds reproduced in the Crucifix of each rosary, with hand-applied enamel done by skilled artists.

The stigmatatized hands inspired the creation of the Our Father beads. The stigmata of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, with enameled decor reproducing the effect of the blood pouring from the wounds, elevate the meditation on these Mysteries.

Special places characterizing the priesthood of Padre Pio are sculpted on each of the Our Father beads with high quality technique and refined craftwork. Our goal for perfection in every detail drives our creative commitment to a new level, and this can be seen on the reverse of the Our Father beads. Indeed, extraordinary manufacturing techniques permit us to decorate the little ostensory on the back with a white enamel Host in just a few millimeters’ space!

The desire of aesthetic perfection pushes on to the reproduction of the signature of Padre Pio applied on each Our Father bead — a detail found only in a true masterpiece. Likewise the Centerpieces, exemplary creations aiming for lasting beauty, show Padre Pio’s face on the front; on the reverse side is an excellent reproduction of mosaics from his church, Santa Maria delle Grazie.
